Parish Church: OS Ref: NGR NH 539492 H.E.S. No: NH54NW 14 Dedication: The Saviour
The old church of the parish of Kilchrist was, as the name implies, dedicated to Our Lord and in, Gaelic, was known as Cill Chriosd.
The medieval parish of Kilchrist (Tarradale) was united with that of Urray (Inverferan) in 1574. The old church was, according to tradition, burned down in 1603. The building was re-roofed about 1870 and was used as the mausoleum of the MacKenzies of Ord family.
Macfarlane in his Geographical Collections [Vol 1., p.211] remarks, perhaps a little sadly that, "There is nothing remarkable about this kirk."
