A number of the parishes which are listed as Prebendal Churches were a component part of a 'union' of parishes which formed a single prebend with a more sufficient income. In the case of Appropriated Churches it is important to realise that, most often, it was the rectory tithes (garbal teinds) that were appropriated, leaving the vicarage tithes to the cleric who was, de facto, the parish priest.

The Lairds of Grant [Grant of Freuchie] were great landowners in Strathspey and beyond, and, as part of these holdings, they had the patronage of the following parish churches - Inveravon; Kirkmichael; Knockando; Urquhart (on Loch Ness); Glenmoriston; Cromdale; Advie; Abernethy; Kincardine; and Duthil.

We have a downloadable article here which gives more details of the medieval churches in Strathspey and Badenoch.
