The Deanery of the Garioch
Over the course of time, and at different times, the Deanery of the Garioch had twenty-four parishes within it, all of which were appropriated - ten to Lindores Abbey, six to Aberdeen cathedral, one to Arbroath Abbey, six to Torphichen Preceptory, and one to St Andrews cathedral priory.

It should be noted that some authors would place Fetterneir and Monymusk within the Deanery of Mar. Likewise, Bethelnie, at times, may have been part of the Deanery of Buchan. What is now known as the parish of Inverurie was originally known as Rothket. At the start of the thirteenth-century, the parish church was moved to what had been the dependent chapel of Inverurie. After this, Rothket reverted to being a mere chapel, and very soon fell into decay.
